Correction and Retraction
Intechno Journal: Information Technology Journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors or concerns may be identified after an article has been published. Corrections and retractions are handled in accordance with established publication ethics principles and recognized best practices in scholarly publishing.
1. Corrections
A correction may be issued when an error is identified in a published article that requires clarification or amendment but does not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions of the research.
Corrections may address, but are not limited to:
-
Errors in text, equations, tables, figures, or other published content.
-
Incorrect author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, or funding information.
-
Errors in data presentation or interpretation that can be corrected without compromising the validity of the main findings.
-
Other inaccuracies that may affect the clarity, completeness, or reliability of the published article.
Authors who identify an error in their published work should promptly notify the editorial office at intechno@amikom.ac.id and provide a clear explanation of the error and the proposed correction.
The editorial team will evaluate the request and determine whether a correction notice is appropriate. Approved corrections will be published transparently and linked to the original article, where applicable, to ensure that readers can identify the changes made to the scholarly record.
2. Retractions
A retraction may be issued when a published article is found to contain serious errors or research or publication misconduct that substantially compromises the reliability, integrity, or ethical validity of the work.
Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:
-
Fabrication or falsification of research data, results, or findings.
-
Plagiarism or substantial unattributed use of another person's work.
-
Serious methodological or analytical errors that invalidate the main findings or conclusions.
-
Duplicate or redundant publication that significantly compromises the originality of the scholarly record.
-
Manipulation of images, data, citations, or the peer-review process.
-
Serious violations of research ethics, including the absence of required ethical approval or consent where applicable.
-
Unauthorized publication or other serious breaches of publication ethics.
Retraction decisions will be based on the available evidence and the results of an appropriate editorial assessment or investigation. Retraction does not necessarily imply intentional misconduct by the authors, as serious errors may occur without deliberate wrongdoing.
3. Retraction Procedure
When a potential reason for retraction is identified, the editorial team will assess the concern and may take the following steps:
-
Preliminary Assessment: Review the reported concern, supporting evidence, and relevant publication records.
-
Communication with Authors: Contact the corresponding author and, where appropriate, other co-authors to request an explanation or supporting documentation.
-
Further Investigation: Consult independent experts, reviewers, the authors' affiliated institutions, or other relevant authorities when necessary.
-
Editorial Decision: Determine whether a correction, retraction, expression of concern, or other action is appropriate based on the findings.
-
Publication of Notice: Publish a clear notice explaining the reason for the correction or retraction, subject to confidentiality and legal requirements.
The journal will make reasonable efforts to ensure that the process is fair, impartial, and adequately documented. Authors will generally be given an opportunity to respond to the concerns before a final decision is made, unless exceptional circumstances require urgent action to protect the scholarly record.
4. Publication and Accessibility of Retraction Notices
When an article is retracted, the journal will publish a retraction notice that identifies the affected article and explains the reason for the decision. The notice will be linked to the original publication to ensure transparency and prevent readers from unknowingly relying on unreliable findings.
Where technically possible, the original article will remain accessible but will be clearly marked as “Retracted.” The retraction notice will be made openly accessible, and relevant metadata or indexing records will be updated where feasible.
The journal will not remove a published article from the scholarly record solely because it has been retracted. Removal may be considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as legal requirements, serious privacy or confidentiality concerns, or other circumstances that make continued public availability inappropriate.
5. Expressions of Concern
When credible concerns have been raised but an investigation has not yet reached a conclusion, the journal may publish an expression of concern.
An expression of concern informs readers that the reliability or integrity of a published article is being assessed. It may remain in place until the investigation is completed and an appropriate editorial decision is made.
Depending on the findings, the expression of concern may subsequently be followed by a correction, a retraction, or no further action.
6. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their published work. If they discover a significant error or inaccuracy, they should promptly notify the editorial office, cooperate with any investigation, and provide the information necessary to assess the issue.
Authors may request a correction or retraction and should explain the reasons for their request. All authors may be consulted where appropriate, although the journal retains responsibility for making the final editorial decision in accordance with its policies and the available evidence.
Failure to agree with a retraction decision does not automatically prevent the journal from proceeding when the evidence supports retraction.
7. Responsibilities of the Editorial Team
The editorial team is responsible for assessing concerns about published articles objectively and taking appropriate action to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
Editorial decisions will be based on evidence, the seriousness of the identified issue, its impact on the reliability of the publication, and applicable publication ethics principles. The journal will seek advice from independent experts or relevant institutions when necessary.
The journal will also take reasonable steps to maintain transparent records of corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions.
