Archiving Policy
Jurnal PIKMA: Publikasi Ilmu Komunikasi Media dan Cinema is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, integrity, and accessibility of all scholarly content published in the journal. Recognizing the importance of maintaining the scholarly record, the journal implements digital archiving and data preservation measures designed to safeguard published articles against potential data loss, technical disruptions, and other circumstances that may compromise the availability of its online content.
To support the continuity of access to its scholarly publications, Jurnal PIKMA employs the following digital preservation and archiving mechanisms.
1. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
Jurnal PIKMA utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a digital preservation service developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), to support the long-term preservation of its published content. Through this service, journal content is automatically archived in accordance with the PKP PN preservation system, providing an additional layer of protection for the scholarly record.
This preservation mechanism is intended to maintain the availability of published articles in the event that the journal's primary website experiences technical failures, service interruptions, or other circumstances that could disrupt access to its content. By participating in this preservation network, Jurnal PIKMA strengthens its commitment to ensuring the continuity and reliability of access to its scholarly publications.
2. Institutional Server Storage and Internal Backup
In addition to external digital preservation, Jurnal PIKMA maintains internal copies of its published articles on the institutional servers managed by the publishing institution. These internal storage arrangements serve as an additional safeguard for preserving the journal's digital content and supporting its long-term availability.
The journal also implements periodic data backup procedures to reduce the risk of data loss resulting from technical malfunctions, system failures, or other unforeseen incidents. These measures are intended to facilitate data recovery when necessary and maintain the integrity and availability of the journal's published content.
Commitment to Long-Term Digital Preservation
Through the implementation of external digital preservation and internal data storage and backup procedures, Jurnal PIKMA seeks to maintain the continuity, security, and long-term accessibility of its scholarly publications. These measures reflect the journal's commitment to preserving the scholarly record and ensuring that published research remains accessible to researchers, academics, students, and other members of the scholarly community.
